4-H Home Environment Project >> Unit 5

This project is for member’s ages 8-18. In this project, you will learn about window treatments and bed covers and how to select appropriate items for your needs. You’ll learn if you should purchase or make items for your home and how to make accurate measurements. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:

  • Apply elements and principles of design to window and bed covers
  • Learn to evaluate personal situations and make decisions
  • Recognize workforce preparation skills.
Step 4:

The items listed below are your project requirements. Select each in turn to access a Word Document. Once you have your document, please save it to your hard drive or other media before entering information.

General Exhibit Requirements:

Project Exhibit Rules for All Units

Project Exhibit Rules:

  1. Only the current year’s records should be submitted.
  2. The articles may be used before exhibiting but should be clean and in good condition when exhibited.
  3. All exhibit items must have the name, age, and county of the exhibitor attached. This information should be attached on the back and at the left-hand corner of the article.

Home Environment Unit 5

Exhibit will consist of the following:

  1. Completed e-Record presented in a sturdy binder/notebook. Include in your project story why you chose your exhibit, how you plan to use it, what other items you made and what recycled or reusable items you used this year.
  2. Include the following information on the specific project information page on the e-Record:
    a. A brief description of the window treatment or bed covering you made or purchased.
    b. Describe how it fits into the design scheme of the room.
  3. One piece of a window treatment or bed cover, made or purchased
