4-H Camps

These camps are open to all 4-H members between the ages of eight and 18 across the state.

The Family Hunting/Outdoor Skills Challenge, sponsored by the Cheyenne, Kit Carson, Kiowa and Yuma County 4-H Shooting Sports Program, will be held in Flagler, CO on May 6-7, at the Flagler Lake Wildlife Area. This is a great way to enhance your skills and learn more about hunting methods, game species, hunter ethics and safety. The Family Hunting/Outdoor Skills Challenge event is not just for youth – in fact, we encourage family members to participate together. The cost of the event is only $25 per shooter which includes all ammunition and targets and guarantees participation in all of the events. Space is limited to 50 shooters per day so call to get your Shooter Information Packet at Cheyenne County – 719.767.5716, Kit Carson County – 719.346.5571, Kiowa County – 719.438.5321 or Yuma County – 970.332.4151.

The Golden Plains Area 4-H Program is offering youth the opportunity to learn how to be better prepared as a camper, hunter, angler or outdoorsman at the GPA Outdoor Adventures Camp, June 12-15. At this camp, learn how to read a map, use a compass to find your way around and set up a comfortable, safe and functional tent camp. You will also learn to use a GPS unit and cook a satisfying outdoor meal. These are just some of the exciting activities that will take place during this camp. All that is needed is YOU!!! If you are interested in attending the GPA Outdoor Adventures Camp please contact Eldon Fisher at 970.332.4151 or email efisher@coop.ext.colostate.edu. The cost of the camp is $60 per youth and $35 per adult participant.

The 2006 Golden Plains Area Wild Bug Fish Camp is scheduled for June 26-29. This camp will take place near Buena Vista, CO and is for those youth interested in learning more about sportfishing, wildlife and entomology. There will be several educational programs on wildlife, wildlife habitat, fishing, tackle crafting, fish environment and entomology. This camp will provide plenty of fishing, fly tying, wildlife viewing, insect catching and a ton of fun. So don’t miss this opportunity to fish, learn about wildlife, add to your insect collection, and meet new friends. You don’t have to be enrolled in the projects to attend. The cost is $75 for 4-H members and $60 for parents/leaders. For more information about this camp contact Mick Livingston at 719.346.5571 or email mick@coop.ext.colostate.edu.
