State 4-H Conference Thank You

Thank you all so much for the work you did to orient your delegates prior to coming to conference and your support and guidance of all the delegates and contestants while they were here on campus. I believe that our combined efforts resulted in one of the most incident-free conferences I can remember! While we were the first conference ever experienced by the staff at the new Summit Hall, and there were growing pains on everyone's part getting keys during registration, there was overwhelming support for returning next year. If you haven't sent in evaluations, please do so. We use your comments to try and improve wherever we can. Thanks! - Dale Leidheiser

4-H Youth Fund Update

The 10th Annual Paul Hoshiko, Jr. Memorial 4-H Golf Tournament was held June 3, 2005 at the beautiful Pelican Lake Golf & Country Club in Windsor, Colorado. This was a year of records for the tournament with an all-time high number of 240 golfers. The money raised at the tournament for the 4-H'ers of Colorado was also a record - more than $30,000.

The Colorado 4-H Youth Fund would like to thank all of the participants in this year's tournament. We would especially like to thank our major sponsors; Advantage Bank, Bank of Colorado and Fagerberg Produce and also our corporate sponsors; American Pride Co-Op, Crossroads Insurance Agency, Ehrlich Family Dealerships, Farmers Bank, Flood & Peterson Insurance, Inc. and New Frontier Bank.

A special thanks is extended to the golf committee volunteers for ensuring the success of this annual event: Bill Jackson, Bob Abrams, Ellen Butler, Byrd Curtis, Becky Fry, Jean Hoshiko, Brad Leafgren, Melissa Oliver, and John Watson. - Becky Fry

A Note From Connie Cecil

It is really good to be a part of the State 4-H office team and be working with all the agents out in the counties. The CCA Projects and Curriculum Work Team is working hard to get e-records for 4-H project record books completed so that we can pilot them in the fall. Agents have worked very hard and for that I am very grateful, because without all of you, I could not do this job.

If you have any questions concerning curriculum, e-records, online registration for state fair or any other questions, please contact me at 970.491.7883, email ccecil@coop.ext.colostate.edu or drop me a note at 127 Aylesworth Hall NW, Campus Delivery 4050, Fort Collins, CO 80523-4050. I would love to hear from you.

I look forward to a great year with many new and exciting changes taking place in the area of curriculum and projects. - Connie Cecil

Grand Champion Senior Clothing Award

The Grand Champion Senior Clothing Construction exhibitor will be presented with an Ellure Sewing and Embroidery Machine during the State 4-H Fashion Revue, Saturday, Aug. 20, at Hoag Hall on the Colorado State University - Pueblo Campus. The recipient must be present to accept this generous donation. Please advise senior clothing construction members that if their garment goes on to State Fair and is selected as the Grand Champion Clothing Construction exhibit, they must attend the State 4-H Fashion Revue to receive their award.

The Ellure Sewing and Embroidery Machine is sponsored by Baby Lock Sewing Machine Company and Sprinkles Sewing Center of Pueblo. This sewing machine offers the right combination of features and functions to make all your creative projects quick and easy. Special appreciation to Jerry and Kathy Binfet, Sprinkles Sewing Center, for their continuous support of the 4-H clothing construction projects! - Connie Cecil

2009 Western Regional 4-H Leader's Forum

The steering committee for WRLF is looking for creative themes for this event. There will be some sort of prize (TBA) for the winning entry. What do you think about our state, the value of volunteers in delivering our programs or the impact of 4-H on Colorado? Consider themes of other conferences and events you've attended as well. The theme will be used to generate visual ideas for a conference logo and used exclusively for this event for the next four years. Send in your ideas! - Dale Leidheiser
