I'm ExcitedI'm excited because of the sense of teamwork I witnessed at the 2005 CAE4-HA meeting in Winter Park. It was fun and energizing to be around such a large group of dedicated professionals. I'm excited to see the results of the Colorado 4-H Impact Study. The students in the College of Business Marketing Research class presented the results of this project on May 11 and 13. However, there is still work to do this summer with some minor further analysis of the data, compiling the reports, preparing displays, and coordinating a plan to share the results to the citizens of Colorado this fall. I'm excited about the positive attitudes of the agents who were essential in the data collection phase of the project - a function that they carried out without a single complaint (at least to me) and in an extremely short time frame. Thanks to all of you who made this happen. I'm excited to see the enthusiasm and unified team effort of the four work teams that make up the 4-H CCA (Core Competency Area). The efforts of these teams will shape the future of the Colorado 4-H program. I'm excited that we have a new Colorado 4-H Youth Fund interim director, Becky Fry. When you have a chance to meet her, I think you will agree with my prediction that Becky will take the Colorado 4-H Youth Fund to places we have not yet imagined. To assist in this effort, I'm also excited to announce the hiring of the new Youth Fund administrative assistant, Shami Loose. As we interviewed applicants for this position, Shami impressed us with her skills, as well as her "Can Do" attitude. I am confident that everyone in the Colorado 4-H family will benefit and enjoy having Becky and Shami supporting the efforts of the Youth Fund. Most of all I'm excited to be the Director of the Colorado 4-H Youth Development Program. It has been a rewarding first few months and I look forward to working with you to make great things happen for the benefit of young people throughout the state. — Jeff Goodwin, Director, 4-H Youth Development State 4-H Conference RegistrationOnline registration is available through Friday, May 27. Registrations entered after that day will be charged a late fee of $5 per participant. Online registration will end on Friday, June 3. Changes after that time should be made directly with me. The registration fee for cancellations after June 15, 2005 are non-refundable; meals and lodging will not be charged. As always, if you have questions give me a call or send an e-mail. — Ellen Butler District President Information NeededJust a reminder to send me information about your newly- elected district presidents. I need four forms filled out: the District President form, Health/Registration form, the Code of Conduct, and State 4-H Officer information sheet. These forms were e-mailed to all counties. Please contact me if you need additional copies. The District Presidents will attend orientation for 4-H Senators during State 4-H Conference. Thanks for your help with this. — Melissa Oliver 2005 Colorado State Fair Teen Clerks and Adult VolunteersCommitted adults and teen clerks are once again called upon to help out at the state fair, 4-H Camp Tobin. Please refer to the April 22, 2005 edition of 4-H Update for the following forms.
Please recruit immediately and mail all applications to Susan Cuckler, Extension, State 4-H Office, 134 Aylesworth Hall NW, Fort Collins, CO 80523-4050 or fax them to 970-491-5108. Last year we had an excellent turn-out of adult and teen clerks. Thanks for all your help. — Susan Cuckler Volunteers Needed! How would you like to spend your day in a lush, green setting with the sounds of gurgling water and birds singing all around you? Guess what? You don't have to travel to Jamaica to do this! You can enjoy this environment right here in Colorado at the Pelican Lakes Golf & Country Club in Windsor! Come join us for a guaranteed day of fun on the golf course and help support the Paul Hoshiko Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, June 3, at Pelican Lakes. We need several volunteers to help with registration, to greet guests, help with prizes, to work on some of the holes, and sometimes just to be available for those "running around" type of things. If you are interested in helping the Colorado 4-H Youth Fund and would like to spend time in a beautiful setting, we need you! Pelican Lakes is a great place to volunteer your time, and the Youth Fund will be most grateful. There will be a morning tournament, (you need to be there at 6:30 a.m.) and an afternoon tournament that will begin registering at noontime. Join us for lunch, get a free t-shirt, and spend the afternoon watching the golfers and the pelicans compete for space. Please contact me at 970-491-0246 if you are interested in helping us out. It's really a fun time! — Melissa Oliver 2006 WRLF Workshop ProposalsMark your calendars to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah March 1-5, 2006 for the Western Regional 4-H Leaders' Forum.
