My yellow Colorado 4-H Youth Group Enrollment handout at CAE4-HA had three lines at the top. They should have read, "or School Enrichment and After School Programs (SACC), please use this form. There is no fee for THESE group-enrolled participants."

Special Interest, Day Camp, and Overnight Camp participants are also reported on the group enrollment form. Special Interest participation is assessed $1/person. Please share this with your data entry personnel so there won't be any surprises in the billing. If you are ever uncertain about the delivery mode, please contact Joy Bauder at 970-491-3887. — Jan Carroll

Office of Suicide Prevention - Suicide Prevention in Schools

As a member of the Colorado Prevention Leadership Council, I was invited to speak to state-level program managers. In a follow-up meeting with Karen Mason and Julie Reichenberger I learned some things important to share with 4-H professionals and volunteers. This is the last of five messages from Karen.

There are several school-based prevention programs that teach kids how to ask for help. Yellow Ribbon (www.yellowribbon.org) was started by Dale and Dar Emme after their son took his life. They have trained entire schools throughout Colorado giving students permission and a way to ask for help. Safe:Teen (www.safe-teen.com) has given many Colorado school staff, students and parents the training and tools they need to recognize and respond to the warning signs that a student may be suicidal. Raising Awareness of Personal Power is a school-based suicide prevention education program used by the Suicide Resource Center of Larimer County.

If you have more questions you can contact the Office of Suicide Prevention at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment at www.cdphe.state.co.us/pp/Suicide/suicidehom.asp. You can also contact Karen Mason, Ph.D. at 303-692-2539 or karen.e.mason@state.co.us or Julie Reichenberger at 303-692-2560 or julie.reichenberger@state.co.us. — Jan Carroll
