CSU Collegiate 4-H Club

The Collegiate 4-H Club is back to school and ready to hit the road to support your county programs! They have done a variety of programs on leadership, officer training, communication, parliamentary procedure, games, and have also conducted interviews and judged events. Marrisa Barber is the president of the club and can be contacted at calicountrygal@aol.com or through me. If you'd like them to come to your county to do some training, please keep the following in mind. Thanks! - Dale Leidheiser

  • Give them lots of lead time to recruit members and plan the activities.
  • Offer to reimburse them for gas/mileage, food, lodging if necessary, and other expenses.
  • Evaluate their work and give them supportive feedback.
  • Remember that they are college students first. Academics are their first priority and community service work to support the 4-H program comes after that. Weekends that are close to the beginning or end of semesters and holiday breaks are more challenging.

4-H PRKC 2004

The 4-H PRKC 2004 clarifies and raises expectations of performance for all 4-H youth development professionals. The final draft is at www.national4-hheadquarters.gov/. It is 30 pages in length, including the bibliography. A more popular report and tools to support its application and use will be available this fall. At that time the 4-H Youth Development Handbook will be updated to reflect the best site for accessing the 4-H PRKC 2004. - Jan Carroll
